UBTECH Launches U1 Series Humanoid Robots, Priced from 119,800 to 990,000 Yuan

UBTECH unveiled its full-size U1 humanoid robot series on June 30, listing four models from RMB 119,800 to RMB 990,000; the flagship's price tag — more than triple analyst expectations — makes high-end market acceptance the make-or-break test for the entire line.
What exactly did UBTECH launch?
The U1 series features 88 degrees of freedom — the number of independent joint axes, meaning more human-like motion.
Four models span the range: U1 Lite at RMB 119,800 (half-body), U1 Pro at RMB 169,800 (standard full-body), and U1 Ultra at RMB 990,000 (male) / RMB 880,000 (female).
This means → UBTECH has moved humanoid robots from lab concept to a priced consumer shelf, with a spread wide enough to cover a sub-RMB 120K entry point and a near-million-yuan flagship.
Why is the RMB 990,000 flagship controversial?
Nomura previously forecast mainstream full-size humanoid pricing at RMB 150,000–300,000.
The U1 Ultra's RMB 990,000 price is more than 3× the top of that range.
In plain terms = the industry consensus said "RMB 300K is already expensive." UBTECH priced its flagship at nearly a million — this is not a pricing tweak but a bet on an entirely different market tier.
What comes next?
One question matters above all: can high-end consumer and commercial buyers generate enough real orders at this price?
If the flagship stalls, UBTECH still has RMB 119,800 and RMB 169,800 models closer to market expectations as a fallback.
This reflects a "plant the flag high, hold the floor low" strategy — the flagship claims brand territory while entry-level models chase volume, but whether the RMB 990K price point can hold remains unproven.
