Anthropic is adjusting the focus of growth for Claude. This AI chatbot, initially more targeted at enterprise users, is being redesigned to better suit everyday use for ordinary consumers.

The co-leader of the company's Labs team, Mike Krieger, stated that since the end of last year, Anthropic has been enhancing Claude's ability to handle personal issues, focusing on frequent life scenarios such as health, travel, and recipes. The product experience is also being optimized in parallel; the waiting time for Claude's mobile from opening the App to when users can start asking questions has been reduced from about 5 to 6 seconds to about 1 second.

These changes are directly aimed at consumer retention. For AI chatbots, the model's capabilities determine whether users are willing to try them, while startup speed, interaction smoothness, and daily issue handling quality decide whether they can become high-frequency tools.

Claude currently ranks second in the free apps category of the US Apple App Store, following OpenAI's ChatGPT and above Google's Gemini; Anthropic indicated in March that daily registrations have quadrupled since the beginning of the year, with over 1 million new registrations added each day at that time. The company claims that the popularity of two products that help users streamline tasks, coupled with the Super Bowl advertisement positioning Claude as an ad-free alternative to ChatGPT, has allowed it to reach a broader base of general users.

The expansion of user scale has also increased the demand for computing power. Anthropic signed a 300-megawatt computing power agreement with Musk's SpaceX on Wednesday, aimed at meeting the growing AI demand.
