U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded just $205 million in net inflows for July — the lowest single-month total on record — after back-to-back outflows of $2.43 billion in May and $4.52 billion in June, leaving little evidence of a meaningful institutional comeback.

01

Where did the Bitcoin ETF money go?

Per SoSoValue data, July net inflows totaled just $205 million — an all-time monthly low.
The two prior months saw $2.43 billion (May) and $4.52 billion (June) in net outflows — nearly $7 billion gone in sixty days.
This means → July's turn to positive is real but tiny: $200 million back versus $7 billion out. The refill barely registers.
In plain terms = the pool lost most of its water; the tap is now open a crack, but the water level is still very low.
02

Why is the Ethereum ETF outperforming Bitcoin?

Spot Ethereum ETFs pulled in $343 million in July, close to April levels and the best among major crypto ETF categories.
On Binance, the ETH/BTC pair rose 11% this month — fund flows and price action point the same way.
This means → while Bitcoin ETFs went cold, some capital actively rotated into Ethereum rather than leaving crypto altogether.
03

Can smaller tokens support the "institutions are back" narrative?

XRP ETFs drew $13.61 million in July — a fourth consecutive positive month, but still a small absolute number.
Solana ETFs brought in $13.82 million, roughly on par with XRP.
This means → combined inflows across all categories remain modest. The monthly data cannot support a story of broad institutional re-entry.
04

Can the daily streak of inflows be trusted?

Analysts have repeatedly flagged multi-day consecutive net inflows as a sign of reviving institutional demand.
Zoom out to the monthly view, however, and Bitcoin ETF figures sit at historic lows.
July has two trading days left; the final number may shift slightly, but the window for a dramatic reversal has all but closed.
In plain terms = a "daily winning streak" looks impressive on its own, but drop it into the monthly ledger and it is just a very small positive — the conclusion changes entirely depending on the time frame.
