Chinese manufacturers shipped over 97% of the world's humanoid robots in the first half of 2026, with Agibot's 8,400 units making it the global leader — a gap with the U.S. that now looks less like a lead and more like a generational divide.
How many humanoid robots shipped in the first half?
Smart Analytics Global puts H1 2026 global shipments at roughly 19,100 units, up from 5,100 a year earlier — more than a threefold increase.
This means → humanoid robots have crossed out of the lab-prototype stage and are scaling at a pace closer to consumer electronics.
Chinese makers accounted for over 97% of that total; top U.S. players combined remain a rounding error.
Who is leading, and how did the ranking shift?
Shanghai-based Agibot (智元机器人) shipped 8,400 units for a 44% global share, overtaking Hangzhou's Unitree Robotics (宇树科技) for the top spot.
Unitree came second with 5,900 units; both far outpaced Tesla, Figure AI, and Agility Robotics.
In plain terms = the world's top two humanoid-robot makers are both Chinese, and the leader alone ships multiples of every U.S. competitor combined.
Who is buying these robots?
Industrial and commercial use cases accounted for over 70% of H1 shipments, up from roughly 50% a year ago.
This means → buyers are no longer showrooms and launch events but real factories and commercial sites — robots are working, not just appearing.
Smart Analytics Global founder Linda Sui noted that humanoid robots are accelerating from showcase scenarios into production-grade deployment.
Why is China moving this fast?
Government policy support and funding at multiple levels are a key accelerant.
At last month's World AI Conference in Shanghai, dozens of robotics firms showcased advances in dexterity, speed, and integrated capability.

Will the U.S. ban change the landscape?
In late July the U.S. banned imports of new Chinese humanoid robots, quadruped robots, and related core components, citing national security and AI-infrastructure cybersecurity risks.
Smart Analytics Global projects full-year 2026 global shipments of roughly 60,000 units, potentially exceeding 500,000 by 2030 — but Sui cautioned that regulatory uncertainty and geopolitical risk will shape the next phase of growth.
This reflects a pivotal test: whether the ban can materially slow Chinese makers' global expansion is the key variable for how this sector's competitive map evolves.
