What actually changed in HarmonyOS 7?
Huawei unveiled HarmonyOS 7 at its developer conference. The core shift is architectural: HarmonyOS is moving from a traditional OS to an Agent architecture — a platform built around AI agents.
This means → HarmonyOS is no longer just the "base layer" that manages hardware and apps. The goal is to make AI agents the system's central dispatcher.

What is the "Hongtu Plan" trying to solve?
Richard Yu, Huawei's Managing Director and head of the Consumer Business Group, announced the launch of the "Hongtu Plan" alongside HarmonyOS 7. The goal: accelerate the scale-up of the open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem.
The HarmonyOS 7 developer Beta went live on June 12.

Yu disclosed that HarmonyOS 6 reached 66 million terminal devices — a milestone achieved in just over 14 months since launch.
