Sixteen companies — including Microsoft, Alphabet, and Goldman Sachs — have formally objected to their shares trading as tokens on the OKX-ICE platform, putting direct pressure on the SEC's newly launched tokenized-equity framework.

01

What happened?

OKX-ICE is a joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent of the New York Stock Exchange. Its original filing covered 63 tickers representing 62 companies.
As of the October 19 update, 16 companies have formally objected — up from just 9 a week earlier.
This means → the opposition nearly doubled in a single week, and the pushback is accelerating.
02

Which companies joined the opposition?

The latest wave adds Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, and Western Digital, among seven new objectors, on top of earlier holdouts Microsoft, Alphabet, and Goldman Sachs.
Alphabet appears twice in the original list because its Class A and Class B shares carry separate tickers.
In plain terms = the objectors now span tech, finance, fast food, and industrial machinery — this is a cross-industry rejection, not a sector-specific complaint.
03

Any anomalies?

The public notice gives no reasons for any company's objection, nor does it disclose when each filing was submitted.
One standout detail: Cerebras Systems (ticker CBRS) filed an objection even though it was not on the original listing roster.
This reflects a level of vigilance that goes beyond passive refusal — some firms are drawing the line preemptively.
04

What does this mean for the SEC's new framework?

The SEC unveiled a tokenized-equity trading framework last month, designed to give crypto platforms a compliance pathway for stock-token trading.
Yet 15 of the 62 targeted companies have now said no — nearly one in four.
This means → the framework's viability depends on issuer cooperation, and right now the invited companies are walking away from the table.
