Musk Announces Training of Grok V9-Medium to be Complete, Set to Release in 2 to 3 Weeks
Musk announced on Monday that the Grok foundational model V9-Medium has completed training with a parameter scale of 1.5 trillion, and it is expected to be released to the public within 2 to 3 weeks. The model is currently undergoing fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning will be initiated in a few days.
Musk stated that V9-Medium has incorporated a large amount of Cursor-related data during additional training, and more will continue to be introduced subsequently.

In contrast, the version currently supporting all of Grok's production line traffic is the v8-small version, with a parameter scale of 0.5 trillion. V9-Medium's parameter volume is three times that, and Musk refers to it as a significant upgrade, especially for complex programming tasks.
“This will be a significant improvement over the current 0.5T v8-small carrying all Grok production traffic, especially in dealing with complex coding tasks.”
