Nebius and Nvidia launched the Physical AI Living Lab for European robotics startups, bundling Nvidia's tool stack with Nebius cloud infrastructure — NBIS surged nearly 9% at Tuesday's open, lifting the broader cloud sector.
What does this lab actually do?
The Physical AI Living Lab is a six-month accelerator for robotics startups in the UK and Europe.
It bundles two things: Nvidia's physical-AI tool chain and Nebius AI Cloud infrastructure, offered as a single integrated package.
This means → early-stage teams skip building their own simulation and compute platforms and go straight to model development and real-world deployment.
Where is the real bottleneck in robotics?
Nebius head of physical AI Evan Helda says the bottleneck is usually not the model itself — it is simulation, synthetic data, and compute infrastructure.
In plain terms = most teams can build a strong model, but they lack the full "training ground" — simulation (letting robots trial-and-error in a virtual world), synthetic data (computer-generated training material), and the GPU compute to run it all.
The Living Lab is designed to hand that training ground over ready-made, so founders spend time building robots, not infrastructure.
How will the programme run?
The first cohort launches in September 2026, running on Nebius's UK data-centre infrastructure.
The hardware layer uses Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs; teams build, fine-tune, and run models on Nebius AI Cloud.
Nebius plans to expand to other regions later — this reflects a strategy of using Europe as a proving ground for physical-AI cloud services before scaling wider.
How did the market react?
NBIS jumped nearly 9% at Tuesday's open, triggered directly by the partnership announcement.
Cloud peers rallied in sympathy: Oracle up over 3%, Google up over 2%, IREN and CoreWeave up nearly 2%.
This means → the market read the partnership as a signal that Nebius is upgrading its role in Nvidia's AI ecosystem — moving closer to infrastructure partner, not just cloud provider.
