OpenAI Launches Self-Service Advertising Platform
This is a key step for OpenAI to transition from a subscription product to an advertising platform with ChatGPT. The company aims to achieve $2.5 billion in advertising revenue this year and increase that to $100 billion by 2030. The revenue target determines that it must convert free user traffic into a sustainable commercial resource.

OpenAI's official page is very straightforward about the positioning of this set of products: users in ChatGPT are not only looking for information but also comparing options, weighing trade-offs, and making decisions. In other words, advertising is no longer just about keywords; it's about the intent, context, and decision points within a conversation.
This is also the biggest difference between AI advertising and traditional search advertising. Search advertising usually captures a keyword, while ChatGPT advertising attempts to capture a more complete picture of user needs, such as what the user is comparing, what they are concerned about, and what actions they are preparing to take.
