Pony.ai's first-generation autonomous light truck has rolled off the production line and entered road testing, carrying over 90% of its Robotaxi technology into urban freight — a second monetization channel that will test whether self-driving companies can close the commercial loop beyond ride-hailing.

In traditional urban delivery, drivers often help unload. Remove the driver, and that task shifts to depot staff, store employees, or automated equipment.
Large courier and logistics firms already have standardized loading systems and are better suited for early adoption; supermarkets and retail endpoints lack mature automated docks and are harder to serve.
