According to Bloomberg, Qualcomm will supply custom chips (ASICs) for AI applications to ByteDance, which is expected to purchase millions of chips for running AI intelligent agent software, potentially becoming one of Qualcomm's most important AI ASIC customers to date.

The news stimulated Qualcomm's stock price to surge, with the increase rapidly expanding to 7.9%,报价 at 257 dollars, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index is currently up by more than 5.6%.

This deal is significant for Qualcomm. Long-term, Qualcomm's core business has been smartphone processors, and this move into the AI infrastructure field is an important step in its diversification strategy.

Previously, the South China Morning Post mentioned that ByteDance increased its AI capital expenditure plan for 2026 by over 25%, totaling about 29.4 billion US dollars, showing its high-intensity investment in the AI arms race.

However, there is a key prerequisite for the final implementation of this deal: the computational power specifications of the relevant chips must comply with the statutory computational thresholds of U.S. export controls to China, and compliance issues will be the core variable determining whether the transaction can be successfully completed.
