Al Jazeera reporters stated that an Iranian senior official denied Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ever demanded that uranium materials must remain within Iran's borders, calling such reports "enemy propaganda".
The official said Iran has not issued new directives and reiterated that Iran will continue to downgrade and dilute the relevant materials domestically. The issue will be discussed in the next round of negotiations.
Following the news, U.S. oil and Brent crude both fell sharply by over $1 to $104.50 per barrel and $104.02 per barrel, respectively; spot gold surged nearly $30 to $4,520.58 per ounce, and spot silver rose by $1 to $75.62 per ounce.
