TrendForce projects AI laptop penetration will surge from 19.3% in 2025 to 84.9% by 2029, as Nvidia's RTX Spark platform brings the CUDA ecosystem to Windows laptops for the first time — shifting the AI laptop race from hardware specs to developer ecosystems and on-device model execution.
How fast is AI laptop penetration growing?
TrendForce maps a steep curve: 19.3% in 2025 → 37.5% in 2026 → 84.9% by 2029.
This means → within four years, AI laptops go from under one-fifth to the overwhelming majority. Non-AI laptops become the minority.
Intel, AMD, Apple, and Qualcomm currently drive the category, but TrendForce notes the market still lacks a product compelling enough to trigger mass upgrades.
What does Nvidia's RTX Spark platform change?
Nvidia unveiled the RTX Spark platform at Computex, pairing it with the N1 and N1X processors. It is the first time the CUDA ecosystem — Nvidia's GPU programming framework, used by the vast majority of AI developers — extends to Windows laptops.
In plain terms = CUDA previously ran only on desktops and servers. Now laptops can execute CUDA-based AI models natively, with no need for developers to re-port their work.
