Anthropic Launches Over a Decade of Legal AI Tools
Anthropic continues to deepen its focus on the legal professional market, with previous actions that have already put pressure on software stocks, and now it is increasing its efforts.
The company announced on Tuesday the launch of 12 new plugins for the legal industry, covering contract review, judicial examination preparation and other functions, and announced that Claude will be interconnected with legal software commonly used such as DocuSign and Thomson Reuters. Anthropic's layout reflects the overall trend of AI companies competing for a share in the professional services market and continues to cause market concerns about the prospects of traditional software service providers.
In February of this year, Anthropic launched a tool with contract review and legal briefing automation capabilities, which was considered one of the triggers for a stock market sell-off of up to 1 trillion dollars at the time. Tuesday's new round of releases aims to expand its territories in line with the trend, making the legal industry the core focus of its enterprise customer strategy.
Mark Pike, Anthropic's Deputy General Counsel, said that after the February tool launch, interest in using Claude among lawyers has significantly increased, and lawyers are now the group with the highest usage rate after software developers.
The iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV) closed down 1.38% on Tuesday.

Twelve New Tools Target the Entire Legal Chain
Among the new tools released this time, the "Business Legal Advisor" function is specifically designed for contract matters such as reviewing supplier agreements; there are also tools dedicated to assisting law students in preparing for the bar exam.
The aforementioned functions will be made available to paying users through Claude Cowork (Anthropic's general AI assistant for office scenarios), and can also be accessed through third-party services built on Claude.
In terms of ecosystem integration, Anthropic announced that Claude will be connected with DocuSign, related products of Thomson Reuters, and AI legal service competitor Harvey, further expanding its depth of embedding in the legal workflow.
High Demand for AI in the Legal Industry, Anthropic Accelerates Commercialization
The legal industry, due to its large volume of document processing and concentration of repetitive work, is considered one of the areas with high potential for AI substitution.
Mark Pike revealed that Anthropic had organized an online seminar specifically for legal professionals to introduce how Claude can be applied to legal work, with over 20,000 registrations. This figure indicates that the legal industry's demand for AI tools is shifting from observation to actual adoption.
In the professional services track, both Anthropic and OpenAI have continued to increase investment over the past year, extending their reach to high-value industries such as financial services and healthcare, in order to attract more enterprise-level customers and support their high valuation expectations.
Anthropic is currently valued at 380 billion dollars, and it has been reported that it has recently considered accepting financing plans with a valuation of over 900 billion dollars, and may start the listing process as early as this year. Against this backdrop, accelerating penetration into the professional market and expanding the base of paying users is crucial to its commercial path.
