BYD Adjusts Smart Driving Option Prices Due to Storage Cost Increase
BYD announced on Tuesday that it will increase the option price for the Zeus Eye B assisted driving laser version on some models, raising it from 9,900 yuan to 12,000 yuan, an increase of about 21%, and this will officially take effect on May 1, 2026. The reason given by the company is a significant increase in global storage hardware costs, and customers who place orders with a deposit before April 30, 2026, will not be affected.
This adjustment involves models from the Dynasty Network, Ocean Network, and some models from the Equation Leopard, covering BYD's mainstream product lines and specialized sub-brands, which is expected to affect consumers' judgment of the value of the smart driving options.
In the context of continuous price reduction competition among Chinese car companies, BYD's decision to increase the prices of some high-end assisted driving configurations indicates that supply chain cost pressures are being transmitted to terminal configuration pricing. However, it is still uncertain whether the price increase can ease profit pressure — BYD has previously seen a decline in profits for three consecutive quarters, and the company plans to disclose its first-quarter performance on Tuesday.
