US energy technology company GE Vernova (NYSE code: GEV) said on Thursday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Canadian robotics and automation systems integrator Robotech Automation, in a move aimed at accelerating the automation process of its industrial supply chain and manufacturing operations.

The transaction value was not disclosed. The deal is expected to be completed in the early third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

Headquartered near Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Robotech has about 35 employees and provides customized automation solutions to customers through in-house design, engineering, and integration capabilities, as well as with the help of a manufacturing partnership network.

GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik stated in a declaration: "The specialized talent, proprietary systems, and hands-on integration experience that Robotech possesses will greatly accelerate our deployment in the field of robotics and automation."

This acquisition is aimed at strengthening the Advanced Research Center (ARC) of GE Vernova, whose robotics deployment program focuses on enhancing the security, quality, delivery efficiency, and cost control of the company's supply chain.

The two companies have established a foundation for cooperation in the past. GE Vernova and Robotech are currently jointly advancing several projects in factories in Schenectady, New York, and SarNIA, Pennsylvania. Management from both sides indicated that this existing cooperation lays a solid foundation for future integration.

Robotech co-founders Carl Thibault and Francis Bourbonnais said: "This opportunity will allow our employees to grow both technologically and personally within a large and robust enterprise."

GE Vernova, which was spun off from General Electric in 2024, has approximately 85,000 employees and operates in about 100 countries across power, electrification, and wind energy sectors. The company has listed targeted mergers and acquisitions as one of the core pillars of its capital allocation strategy - earlier this year, GE Vernova completed the full acquisition of transformer joint venture Prolec GE for about $5.28 billion.
