Google Launches AI-Native Notebook with Gemini OS

Alphabet, Google's parent company, officially announced a new generation of notebook computers named Googlebook on May 12th. This product signifies the company's transition from the traditional Chromebook operating system to an "intelligent system" centered around the Gemini artificial intelligence.

Googlebook has achieved a deep integration of the Android ecosystem with ChromeOS. Users can retain the advantages of the globally popular browser while seamlessly accessing the powerful applications in the Google Play Store and experiencing a modern system architecture driven by native AI.

In terms of interactive innovation, Google has introduced the innovative function of "Intelligent Cursor." Users can simply wave the cursor over objects on the screen to trigger real-time context suggestions provided by Gemini, a design that attempts to reshape the traditional logic of mouse interaction. The system also comes with a built-in custom component function, allowing users to directly generate custom components through prompt words. Gemini is capable of cross-platform data retrieval of Gmail, Calendar, and internet-wide information, achieving highly personalized data aggregation on the dashboard.

It is worth noting that Google simultaneously disclosed a series of new features for Android 17 on Tuesday, ahead of Apple's upcoming major AI upgrade to iOS. In addition to Googlebook, the update also involves the redesign of emojis and optimization of video functions for Instagram creators.

In terms of the hardware supply chain, Google has adopted a broad cooperation model. The company announced that it will work with Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, and Lenovo for joint production. The first batch of Googlebook, covering various form factors, is expected to be officially released in the autumn of this year.
