Nasdaq opens higher, NVIDIA hits new highs, memory chips surge
On Wednesday, U.S. stocks opened with mixed movements. The Nasdaq Composite rose by 0.21%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.36%, and the S&P 500 was up by 0.01%.
Nvidia opened up 2.08%, trading at $225.365, setting a new record high and achieving a total market value of $5.46 trillion. AI chip stocks also gained strength, with Qualcomm and Intel increasing by about 3%.
ONSEMI Semiconductor rose nearly 5%, and Nano-Micro Semiconductors increased by 4.6%; memory and storage-related companies also moved higher in unison, with Micron jumping 4.7%, SanDisk rising 2.3%, Seagate Technology climbing 1.1%, and Western Digital edging up by 0.7%.
Cloud computing service provider Nebius opened up more than 14%. The company's revenue for the first quarter reached $399 million, a stunning increase of 684% compared to the same period last year.
The NASDAQ Golden Dragon China Index rose by 2%. JD.com increased by more than 5%, Baidu and NIO saw gains of over 4%, and Alibaba, Li Auto, and Bilibili all climbed by over 2%.
