South Korea Asks Samsung to Resume Talks with Union on May 16
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean government has recently intervened in the labor dispute between Samsung Group and the labor union, demanding that both parties return to the negotiating table on May 16th to resume discussions on core issues such as salary and working conditions. South Korea previously stated that a strike at Samsung could pose a significant risk to the economy.
It is reported that Samsung proposed direct negotiations with the union on the issue of bonuses.
Previously, the negotiations between the Samsung labor union and management reached an impasse, with both sides showing clear differences on key terms such as salary increases and welfare guarantees. As the labor-capital conflict continues to escalate, relevant South Korean departments decided to mediate, urging both sides to reach a consensus as soon as possible to avoid the potential impact of a strike on Samsung's semiconductor and consumer electronics production lines.
