Zhipu's GLM-5.3 model is now live on AWS Bedrock under a usage-based revenue-sharing deal, sending Zhipu (02513) up 7.82% to HK$717 in Hong Kong morning trade — a sign that Chinese AI firms are turning pay-per-call distribution into a core business model at home and abroad.

01

What exactly is the deal?

AWS's model platform Amazon Bedrock has added Zhipu's GLM-5.3 to its lineup.
The arrangement is revenue sharing — AWS pays Zhipu based on how much the model is called. This means → Zhipu earns not from a one-off licence but from ongoing usage: more calls, more revenue.
After the announcement, Zhipu (02513) jumped 7.82% in Hong Kong's morning session to HK$717, with turnover of HK$633 million.
02

How far has the overseas push gone?

According to China's Kechuangban Daily, Zhipu has recently signed similar revenue-sharing deals with several other overseas cloud providers beyond AWS.
The company previously said it plans to use overseas cloud platforms' distribution reach to build a scalable commercial path.
In plain terms = Zhipu's playbook is to place its model on other firms' cloud shelves rather than build its own overseas data centres — and let those platforms' customer bases drive volume.
03

What about the domestic market?

In China, Zhipu has signed comparable revenue-sharing agreements with leading cloud providers including Alibaba Cloud's Bailian platform.
Huawei Cloud has also listed GLM-5.3 and reached an intent for a similar arrangement.
This means → Zhipu now has a revenue-sharing network that spans both domestic and overseas markets, running the same model on the same terms in both.
04

Can this model actually make real money?

The key variable is call volume — enterprise clients on these platforms need to use the model heavily for the revenue share to add up.
The distribution pipes are laid, but whether call volume can scale enough to meaningfully lift revenue remains the unproven test.
In plain terms = the plumbing is in place, but the water hasn't flowed yet — the market is watching for the first volume numbers.
